Decorative rug with large HBC Coat of Arms in its center. Created for the Company by Royal Wilton Carpet Factory, whose charter was granted in 1699. The initials of the four women who made the carpet, as well as the date, have been woven into the border. The makers are Marjorie Townsend, Peggy Shephard, Mary Johnson and Joyce Plowman. The carpet originally resided on the floor of the waiting room in Beaver House in London. Please note: one end of the carpet is rolled and secured to a supportive wooden cleat.
