Lake Kamaniskeg is a scenic large lake in the Madawaska Valley, about an hour’s drive north of Bancroft, Ontario. A.J. Casson depicted it multiple times in various sketches (see also lot 204). In this dramatic composition, a striated sky and a leaning evergreen suggest the winds of fall, as do the oranges and golds seen on the distant shore.
