Acquired in Haida Gwaii, British Columbia by a Private Collection, Quebec, 1908
By descent to the present Private Collection, Quebec
This artwork was acquired by a prominent federal official who served during the latter half of the 19th century and into the early years of the 20th century. He was involved in the construction of the Canadian Railway to British Columbia, where he was able to travel as part of his official duties. This beautifully carved oblong platter was acquired in Haida Gwaii during a trip to British Columbia, in 1908.
