Ron Bloore was a Canadian abstract painter and an influential member of the Regina Five. Trained in art history and archaeology in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K., he drew deeply on ancient, architectural, and symbolic forms throughout his career. Bloore was also a dedicated educator, teaching at institutions such as the University of Regina, the University of Saskatchewan, York University, and the University of Toronto, where he shaped generations of Canadian artists through his emphasis on visual discipline and close, attentive observation. Although Bloore explored various approaches to abstraction early in his career, he became best known for his austere white-on-white paintings. Painting A (1977) belongs to his later period, retaining his monochromatic, relief-like surfaces while introducing a gentle figurative undercurrent that hints at symbolic or architectural resonance. For additional images of the monocromatic surface, please contact Heffel Calgary.
