Acquired at the Vancouver Art Gallery by the present Private Collection, Vancouver, 1981
In 1981 Vancouver Art Gallery launched a campaign to help move from their old location to the courthouse on West Georgia, where they are currently located. At the same time they were fundraising to purchase the Rauschenberg painting, Rush #10 - The Cloister Series. The idea was to sell "shares" of the original painting. For members, the opportunity was to spend $100 for 20 square inches of the painting, and receive a special print of the work, signed by the artist, as a gift. This is how the current Collection acquired this print.
Included with this lot are copies of newspaper articles and advertising from the Vancouver Art Gallery's 1981 "Help Take a Rauschenber to Court" fundraising campaign.
